2024 bad differential

So I just bought a used 2024 dark horse with only 5k miles on it. Within the first couple weeks of driving it, I began to hear a slight popping noise everytime I turned left or right from a stop or low speed. it almost sounded like when a tire skips off a rock or off the pavement. I brought it to my local ford dealership because it is still under warranty. After a week and a half of investigating they said “failure of internal parts within the rear differential.” They are now awaiting the parts to do a full replacement of the rear diff and I believe the axle as well. Has anyone else seen or heard of any issues like this? I feel like for a car with 5k miles this is kind of a major issue. Any info would be great, thanks.

Have not seen this, but owners manual states diff fluid service after every track day, possible previous owner could not read.

Interesting…thanks for the info. I believe they said a bearing failed? I will update when I get more details from the technicians. Super lame. Had the car for 2 weeks and now I won’t have it for a month.

I would be cautious buying a performance car used with low miles, makes me think why did the previous owner by the car. Just to beat on it and turn it in? Ford will stand behind the car no issues there. From your description only, sounds lift the clutch pack back there is sticking. Either way trust the dealer until they give you reasons not to. another bummer is you don't get the killer "owners kit" or the track attack day in North Carolina.

Yeah I hear you. It was weird that the second owner only had it for like 2 months before trade in. I had a gt before this with 7k miles and that thing had 0 issues up until I traded it with 27k.

I have 6600 miles on mine and it's a little over two years old. When I first start the car in the morning after it has been sitting all night I get a bit of a pop when I make a right turn a block from my house. That's the only time it does it. I assume it's because the differential is cold. Your situation has got me wondering. And I haven't tracked this car, yet. Be interesting to see if your dealership has a means of finding out how many identical issues have occurred across the board since the DH was released.

According to my service advisor, this is the first issue like this he’s seen with a dark horse. There was 6 parts like the one I needed being sent out nationwide this week. So at least 6 other people. I didn’t get mine and got switched to “back order” for internals for a differential. Shits taking forever and driving me crazy.
